MILWAUKEE: SAME OL’ RACE-RIOT SCENARIO
Another inner city neighborhood is going up in flames. This time it is Milwaukee’s turn to experience the Black Lives Matter type protests, which consistently turn into riots, violence against police and destruction of property.
It’s like a broken record. It starts, nine times out of 10, with police simply attempting to uphold the law – just doing their job. This time appears to be no different.
Evidently, police conducted a traffic stop of a black man. Rule No. 1: Don’t attempt to flee. Rule No. 2: If you attempt to flee, police will rightly assume you are guilty of something, if they don’t already know. The fleeing man, who died of “lead poisoning,” broke both rules and was also said to have a handgun.
According to police, the handgun recovered was “stolen in a March burglary in suburban Waukesha.” But I’m sure this guy just found it lying in the street and picked it up. Police gave chase. According to Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, the man was shot twice – once in the chest, once in the arm.
Soon after, social media lit up, calling for people to hit the streets in protest, knowing nothing of the incident. Well, that’s not completely accurate. People were told that a black man was shot by police. Of course, the fact that he had a stolen handgun and was fleeing a traffic stop was left out.
What was also left out was that he was shot in the chest – which logically means the man was facing the police at the time of the shooting. OK, that’s not accurate, either. It wasn’t left out. Rather, social media reported that the man was shot in the back, fleeing police. I’m sure this was just an oversight – not a purposeful attempt to change the scenario to incite the protesters.
